Andrea Rea is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Group for Research on Ethnic Relations, Migration and Equality (GERME) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. He is an expert on the policy of immigration and integration of Belgium. His research interests focus on the integration of migrants in labor markets; the social integration of youth, particularly from ethnic minority groups; and the development of the society of control. He is the author and co-author of many articles, chapters in edited collections, and books including among others Young Immigrants in the City: Citizenship and Public Policy (Jeunes immigrés dans la cité. Citoyenneté et politique publique, 2001), Society in Crumbs: The Trials and Challenges of Exclusion (La société en miettes. Epreuves et enjeux de l'exclusion, 1997), and The Others in Europe: Legal and Social Categorization in Context (with Saskia Bonjour and Dirk Jacobs, 2011).
