Keepers of Memory - Survivors' Accounts of the Rwandan Genocide - 60 minutes
Eric Kabera will introduce the film and conduct a question and answer session immediately after the conclusion of the film. 

Synopsis:

  • Through eyewitness accounts and gripping footage, acclaimed director Eric Kabera takes the viewer on an emotional journey into the 1994 Rwandan genocide, its survivors, and the memorials created in the victims' honor. The film focuses on the personal accounts of men and women who watch over the sacred burial sites keeping the memories alive for future generations.

Director's Bio:

  • Born in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Eric Kabera made his studies in psychology, pedagogy and law. After a training offered by Reuters Foundation in London, he became a radio journalist for three years with the national broadcaster and a freelancer for the Africa Section of the BBC. Since 1994, he runs his Link Media Production company in Rwanda whose production credits range from the first feature length film on the Rwandan genocide "100 Days" to multiple documentaries and shorts specializing on the Great Lakes region of Rwanda. Kabera founded the Rwanda Cinema Centre (RCC) with the intention of training and facilitating filmmaking in Rwanda.
