- Fundraiser for Documentary Film A Chance for Peace
A Chance for Peace is a documentary film, which hopes to answer the question, “Is Peace possible?” in Kenya following last year’s tragic post-election violence. Currently a crew of five students and film and photography professionals are readying to return to Kenya where they volunteered just two months before a presidential election that resulted in killings, population displacement, and heavily politicized conflict. The long-term goals of the film/project are to raise funds and awareness on the issues of development, education, human rights and public health in Kenya.
About A Chance for Peace (ACFP), Tyler Batson:
A Chance for Peace (ACFP) is your chance to become part of an international movement! ACFP is part charitable organization, part documentary film. Currently we are fundraising for the production and promotion of this one-of-a-kind film, as well as raising awareness through events, talks, and simple word-of-mouth networking. To begin production in August 2008, time is critical. As amateur documentary filmmakers and students we are reaching out to established organizations and entities for support. This story about the human condition in an African country has received support from university professors and NGO directors, members of the Kenya press, politicians and community elders. We thank you for your consideration to become part of this movement towards peace in Kenya!
About Vidal Sassoon Academy, Santa Monica:
Vidal Sassoon Academy, Santa Monica, is co-hosting the fundraiser on Saturday, July 12, 2008. How are we to move forward without the keystone of progress: education? Always on the cutting edge of fashion and design, Vidal Sassoon Academy is located in the heart of Santa Monica, California. The event space regularly hosts seminars, hair shows, and special events attended by guests from around the globe and the venue has seating for 100, a dance floor, surround sound, a foyer/lounge, a stage/catwalk, a balcony, and more.
