Musical Performance by The Refugee All Stars -- Thurs., July 20 -- 8 PM -- Free
The Skirball Cultural Center
Born in the Kalia Refugee Camp in 2001, The Refugee All Stars of Sierra Leone began writing original music on worn instruments and began performing for the refugees in the camp. Their music is upbeat and danceable, rootsy, with a lot of reggae influence. The story behind the music is one that should be heard.
