Performance by The Refugee All Stars of Sierra Leone

The Skirball Cultural Center presents a special concert by this remarkable group whose members met in a refugee camp in Guinea, survivors of Sierra Leone's brutal extended civil war.

Born in the Kalia Refugee Camp in 2001, The Refugee All Stars of Sierra Leone began writing original music on worn instruments and began performing for the refugees in the camp.  Their music is upbeat and danceable, rootsy, with a lot of reggae influence.  The story behind the music is one that should be heard.
