UCLA Live Presents Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra

Celebrating the city's rich traditions and colorful legacies, the swinging 16-piece band performs an inspiring program of original compositions and new arrangements of jazz, blues, swing and spiritual classics that have influenced the New Orleans' sound, including works by Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Sidney Bechet.

In the wake of Hurricane Katina, New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) has become a beacon for a troubled city with a rich cultural spirit, led by trumpet prodigy, Wynton Marsalis protege and Louisiana and City of New Orleans Cultural Ambassador, Irvin Mayfield.
