Summary:
This paper examines a set of political concerns extant among white South African female social critics. Post-apartheid social identities have been offered as a welcome salve by some who may be prematurely grateful for the end of the legacies of white supremacy in South Africa. By attending to the way white female racial and gender formations are being historicized and understood in the post-apartheid moment, we can grapple with the political and social work being done by these persistent racial formations in a post-racial era.
