Kenya: Beyond the Post-Election Crisis

The Globalization Research Center-Africa presents a public lecture by Stephen N. Ndegwa, Visiting Scholar.

About Stephen Ndegwa:

 Stephen N. Ndegwa, Visiting Scholar, UCLA Globalization Research Center Africa, is currently serving as a Lead Public Sector Governance Specialist at the World Bank, Washington, DC and is presently attached to the Africa division of the Poverty Reduction & Economic Management (PREM) Network. Since joining the World Bank, Dr. Ndegwa has worked on political economy issues, decentralization in both Africa and East Asia, and other public sector governance reform issues. His publications include, Decentralization in Africa: A Stocktaking Survey, Africa Working Paper Series #40, 2002; Decentralization in Africa, Findings, July 2003; and The Politics of Decentralization Reform (with Brian Levy). Dr. Ndegwa is also the author of The Two Faces of Civil Society (Kumarian Press,1996) and editor of A Decade of Democracy in Africa (Leiden: E. J. Brill, 2001) as well as co-editor (with York Bradshaw) of The Uncertain Promise of Southern Africa (Indiana University Press, 2000). Since 1992, Dr. Ndegwa has conducted research fieldwork in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and South Africa on topics such as NGOs and policy, land reform, electoral systems, institutions and governance, and AIDS policy.

Dr. Ndegwa received his PhD in Political Science and African Studies from Indiana University in 1993.
