Baaba Maal

UCLA Live presents Senegalese artist Baaba Maal.

Baaba Maal

Senegal’s modern music icon Baaba Maal remains one of the most exciting and enthralling performers in the world. Schooled in the ancient griot traditions but embracing new modes of expression, the masterful singer and songwriter’s music spans centuries and cultures. He’s worked with Brian Eno and Peter Gabriel and collaborated with composer Hans Zimmer on the score for “Black Hawk Down,” expanding the reach of African music while remaining ever true to his roots.
