Festival du Senegal

Join artists, performers, & vendors for a family festival celebration of Senegalese life. Free events for children & adults, as well as a Senegalese marketplace. This event is being held in conjunction with the exhibition "A Saint in the City: Sufi Arts of Urban Senegal." Please click on the title for the festival schedule.

Hair Braiding by Coiffure Artists Maimouna Barry & Aissata Fall – noon – 3 PM in the William Goldenberg Galleria

Arabesque Drawing Workshop --  noon – 5 PM outside of Fowler entrance

 

Tie Dye Workshop with Bayette Davis-Dassy -- 12:30 – 2:30 PM & 3:30 – 5 PM on the 2nd floor Museum Terrace

Reverse Glass Painting Workshop  -- 1:00 – 2:30 PM & 3:30 – 5 PM in Studio at the Fowler, 2nd floor

Dance & Music Performance & Workshop by Mussukeba Sane, Malik Sow & others

2:30 – 3:50 PM in the UCLA Art Council Amphitheater

 

Cora Performance by Baajali Cissoko

4 PM in the UCLA Art Council Amphitheater

 

Also featuring a Senegalese Marketplace and walkthroughs of “A Saint in the City” with curators Polly & Al Roberts throughout the afternoon.
