This totally fascinating, often hilarious doc is set in a small courthouse in Cameroon where two women determined to change a village are making progress that could change the world. The film follows tough-minded state prosecutor Vera Ngassa and court president Beatrice Ntuba as they help women in their village fight cases of abuse. With fierce compassion, they dispense wisdom and wisecracks in fair measure. A cross between Judge Judy and The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, SISTERS IN LAW has audiences cheering when justice is served.
The latest from internationally acclaimed filmmaker Kim Longinotto, co-directed by Florence Ayisi, SISTERS IN LAW was the winner of the Prix Art et Essai at Cannes.

Established in 1972 to address the under representation and misrepresentation of women in the media industry, Women Make Movies is a multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization which facilitates the production, promotion, distribution and exhibition of independent films and videotapes by and about women. The organization provides services to both users and makers of film and video programs, with a special emphasis on supporting work by women of color. Parking -- available in Lots 14 or 16, close to the theater, or in the Mesa Parking Structure (no more than a 5-minute walk to Campbell Hall). Check with the ticket office regarding a prepaid pass for $1.50. If you do not have a prepaid pass, you must purchase a $2 parking permit once you get to campus. Park in the lot closest to the event you will be attending. Each parking lot will have several machines that vend parking permits that you can purchase with cash, credit card or even charge to a cell phone account. Remember the number of your parking space to be sure you pay for the correct spot. Machines only take bills and do not provide change.
