The second annual International Unity Parade kicks off a day-long multi-cultural celebration Sunday, September 14, honoring Africa's diversity and broad spectrum of cultures. The parade is organized in partnership with the African Leadership Council (ALC), the Little Ethiopia Business Association, African organizations and African business owners of Southern California.
The International Unity Parade, which starts at 1:00pm in Little Ethiopia at the corner of Pico and Fairfax, will launch the day's events with music and participation from a wide variety of community groups representing Nigeria, Angola, Benin, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Congo, Senegal, Liberia, Mali, and the Caribbean among others. The International Unity Parade further emphasizes cultural diversity with stage performances hosted by Mistress of Ceremony Amabel Niba, Editorial Director and Publisher of the African Vibes Magazine.
The free events open to the public will feature colorful floats, Elephants, African Cultural dancers, Church Choirs, School Marching Bands and Caribbean Marching Bands.
"The parade offers a wonderful opportunity for a family-friendly celebration of our multi-cultural diversity," said Nikki Legesse, International Unity Parade Committee Chair. "We invite all community members and area residents to join in this fun day of festivities and learning."
