Helene Hagan, President of Tazzla Institute for Cultural Diversity and Director of  L.A.A.F.F., Los Angeles Amazigh Film Festival, is pleased to announce the celebration of the second annual event on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Barnsdall Theatre and Art Gallery, a facility of the Department of Cultural Affairs, city of Los Angeles, 4800 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90027.

Schedule:

4:00 - 4:30 PM

  • Slideshow presentation, “Kabylia, the land, the people, the Arts” (10 min)
  • Welcome Address by Helene Hagan
  • Presentation by Rachid Bouksim, Director of  the Issni N’Ourgh Film Festival of Agadir, Morocco, on the recent development of the Amazigh Cinematography in Morocco.

4:30 - 6:30 PM  -  Documentaries

  • “Pottery from the Rif” (27 min, 2003, Morocco, Dounia Productions, Ltd.)
  •  “On Native Lands” (86 min, Canada/Morocco, 2007, Orbi xii)

6:30 - 7:30 PM  -  Art Exhibit and Reception

  • Artwork by Moroccan artists Hassan Moumene (Atlas) and Abdallah Aourik (Souss)
  • Traditional Mint tea and tidbits catered by CHAMEAU, Inc. of Beverly Hills

7:30 - 9:00 PM  -  Film  –  “Tizza U’ wul” (Fishbones)  2008 – Ali N’ Productions, Morocco

9:15 - 9:30 PM  -  Tazzla Awards  –  A.C.A.A. presentation

9:30 - 10:30 PM  -  Concert

  • L.A.  percussionist and vocalist Fella Oudane  (Kabyle, North African medley)
  • Special guest: Khalid Ayour, music from the Souss Valley, Morocco
