Aza is a musical band founded in Santa Cruz, CA by Fattah Abbou and Mohamed Aoualou. Both are from Morocco and are part of the Imazighen (Berber) group, the indigenous people of North Africa whose history dates back 3,300 years. Fattah and Mohamed have performed and studied music for over twenty years before moving to the US seven years ago. The band’s activities are not limited to music but also to promoting Amazigh culture. Through their artistic activities they have introduced people of all ages and backgrounds to Amazigh music and culture.
