A comparative seminar examining the socioeconomic, political, and cultural effects of Soviet rule in the South Caucasus and Central Asia and the challenges facing the newly independent republics of the regions. Discussion topics include Stalinist Terror, Armenian nation-building, and Muslim women in the USSR.
