Librarian for the Chinese Collection in the East Asia Library, Yale University. In addition to his degree from UCLA, Dr. Chan has an M.Phil. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and an M.L.S. from Rutgers. Before become librarian at Yale, Dr. Chan, a specialist in Buddhism of the Song dynasty, pursued a teaching career for three years at the University of Florida and fours years at Rutgers, during which time his publications were primarily related to Tiantai Buddhism. Upon receiving his library degree in 2000, he became the cataloger for the Chinese Rare Books Project based at Princeton University, and in 2004 he assumed his current position.
