The African Activist Association (AAA) at UCLA will host "A Spoken Word and Performance Art Benefit for Haiti" on Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Neuroscience Research Building auditorium from 5:30-9:00 p.m.
 
The evening will feature Haitian art with commentary by Kathy Smith, World Arts and Cultures; Brazilian Capoeira; African dances featuring Nabtry and Deborah Dauda; stand-up comedy by L.A. comics; spoken word poetry by local and international artists; international dance ensembles; hip hop guest artists and more.
 
Refreshments will be served. The building is located adjacent to Parking Structure 9 and across Charles E. Young Drive from the School of Public Health.
 
Proceeds will benefit Population Services International (PSI) and its emergency and long-term relief efforts in Haiti. See www.psi.org for details on the work being done there.
 
AAA is asking for a suggested minimum donation of $5, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
