For the third year, the UCLA Center for European and Eurasian Studies will co-sponsor a film at the Los Angeles Film Festival. This year’s selection is “Street Days,” a dramatic feature from the Caucasian nation of Georgia. The screening will take place at the Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live on June 19th at 7:15pm and on June 23rd at 7:30pm (see event listing on the CEES website).

In his dazzling debut feature, co-writer/director Levan Koguashvili pits a flawed though decent man against a society on the brink of social and economic collapse. At once bleak and darkly funny, Street Days is laced with shocks of unexpected humor, startling imagery and bracing social satire.

For the past 16 years, the Los Angeles Film Festival has been a preeminent cinematic event, showcasing the world’s best independent features, including premieres of smash-hits The Devil Wears Prada and Sunshine.  The 2010 Festival will present 200 features, shorts, and music videos from more than 40 countries including the Pat Tillman documentary, The Tillman Story; Focus Feature’s The Kids Are All Right; and Revolución, a collaboration by ten renowned Mexican filmmakers. The Festival will take place June 17-27, 2010 in venues throughout downtown Los Angeles, including the John Anson Ford Amphitheater, the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theatre (REDCAT), and the Orpheum Theater.

Full festival information and ticket purchasing options are available at the LA Film Festival website.
