Victor Bascara

English professor teaches on Asian Americans and War at UCLA in 2006-07.

Victor Bascara, Associate Professor of English and Asian American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was a Lecturer in Asian American Studies at UCLA in 2006-07.  In Spring 2007 he taught a course on "Asian Americans and War" that included extensive discussion of both the Philippine American War and the Vietnam War.  Prof. Bascara is author of Model-Minority Imperialism: Understanding the Legacy of U.S. Imperialism through Asian American Culture (2006).  His research interests include Asian American Literature, cultures of United States imperialism, Critical Race Theory, and turn-of-the century (19th to 20th) American Literature.
