Katharine Moon is the author of newly published Protesting America: Democracy and the U.S.-Korea Relations. She will discuss the main themes in her book, focusing on 'anti-Americanism,' nationalism, conflict and cooperation among activist groups and their views of the U.S. military bases in South Korea. She explores how democracy and social movements have affected the military alliance between the U.S. and Korea and makes comparative reference to transnational activism against U.S. bases in other parts of the world.
