Monday, November 19, 2007
11:30 PM - 1:00 PM
10383 Bunche Hall
Once hailed as the cornerstone of the new strategic partnership between Delhi and Washington, the July 2005 nuclear agreement between the two countries has run into political trouble in India. Why do both governments consider the deal so important? What will be the consequences of it going through or failing?
Siddharth Varadarajan, an award-winning journalist with many years experience covering foreign policy and nuclear issues, is the Strategic Affairs editor of The Hindu, India's leading English-language daily. He is currently on sabbatical, teaching at the Graduate School of Journalism, UC Berkeley, and working on a book on Indo-U.S. relations.
