Kirin Narayan will share sections of her recent book, My Family and Other Saints. Drawing on her background as an anthropologist and folklorist, Narayan retells family narratives formed at the crossroads of Indian and American approaches to spiritual questing in the late 60s and early 70s.

Kirin Narayan is Professor of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin--Madison. She is the author of Storytellers, Saints and Scoundrels: Folk Narrative in Hindu Religious Teaching (1989), Mondays on the Dark Night of the Moon: Himalayan Foothill Folktales (in collaboration with Urmila Devi Sood, 1997), a novel, Love, Stars and All That (1994) and a memoir, My Family and Other Saints (2007) --www.press.uchicago.edu/Misc/Chicago/568201.html
