Cup of Java: Javanese Dance Voices
In a rare American appearance, seven master Javanese artists from Indonesia offer an extraordinary evening of gamelan music, dance, theater and spiritual traditions.

Offering a transcendent journey into the far reaches of Javanese performing arts, seven visiting artists expertly draw from Hindu and Islamic heritage and present works that are a synthesis of energy, spirituality and emotion. The program features classical Javanese opera, dance drama, puppetry, and song with gamelan music supported by Djoko Walujo and I Nyoman Wenten of CalArts. Together they present choreography and music created especially for this concert in America.
