Exploring Visual Types of Gandharan Buddha Images: Its Ramifications

The Center for Buddhist Studies and the Department of Art History are pleased to announce a newly scheduled talk by Professor Rhi Juhyung (Seoul National Unversity) this Thursday, November 19 at 12:30 pm in Dodd 221A.
Based on Prof. Rhi's recent work on identifying several visual types of Buddha images from Gandhara, he will further elucidate the problem focusing on the context of the research and its ramifications for the forthcoming works.
Professor Rhi Juhyung from Seoul National University—perhaps the world’s leading scholar of Gandharan Buddhist art today and an excellent all-round specialist on Buddhist art throughout Asia—will give this sequel to the lecture he presented here during his previous visit two and a half years ago.
This talk has been organized by Professor Lothar Von Falkenhausen of the Department of Art History.
