Tibetan Sand Mandala
Pacific Asia Museum is honored to welcome monks visiting from the Drepung Loseling Phukhang Khangtsen monastery. Over the course of the week, they will be creating a sacred mandala by placing individual grains of colored sand. An art form particular to Tibetan Buddhism, sand mandalas depict the world in its divine form, representing a map by which the ordinary human mind is transformed into the enlightened mind. There will be a starting ceremony at 10am Wednesday, and the art will be swept away on Sunday at 2pm. Free.
