The film follows the compelling testimonies of four individuals and their families affected by General Suharto's bloody purge of suspected "communists" in Indonesia, where an estimated 500,000 to 1,000,000 people were systematically killed in 1965-66. For more information on the film, see www.40yearsofsilence.com.
The film will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Dr. Robert Lemelson, and Consul Fiki Oktanio of the Indonesian Consulate, Los Angeles.
