Dimitris Caramitsos-Tziras is Consul General of Greece in Los Angeles. He joined the Foreign Service of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983 and has served at Greek Diplomatic Missions in Montreal (International Civil Aviation Organization), New York (United Nations), Cape Town (Consul) and Sofia (First Counselor, Political Affairs). He also worked in the International Organizations (Council of Europe and United Nations) and European Affairs (Internal Market and Eurozone) Desks of the Foreign Ministry. From 2002 until the end of 2004, he joined the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games Organizing Committee as appointed General Manager for Volunteers and as member of the Games Operation Committee and the Main Operations Centre. On his return to the Foreign Ministry, he was appointed Coordinator for Anti-Terrorism and Head of the Crisis Management Unit. He was appointed Consul General in Los Angeles and assumed his duties in August 2005.
