Martin Beniston is Professor at the University of Geneva, and holds the Chair for Climate Research. He is a faculty member of the new Institute of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Geneva. He has worked in the fields of air pollution at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and was the vice-chairman of a working group of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations-sponsored body that prepares scientific reports relevant to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Martin Beniston has over 100 publications in the international literature, has authored 3 books and edited or co-edited 8 further volumes with major publishers. He is series editor of Advances in Global Change Research (Springer Publishers), and organizes the Wengen Workshops on Global Change Research that bring together leading researchers to discuss topics relevant to global change issues. He was elected to the Academia Europea in 2000 and is a member of the Board of Trustees of WWF-Switzerland.
