Jacob Finn is a senior undergraduate student from Simi Valley, California majoring in Psychology with minors in Global Studies and Public Affairs. He is especially interested in American foreign policy in the Middle East, diplomacy and conflict resolution, economic and political development, and human rights. Since September of 2014, Jacob has served as an undergraduate researcher for Dr. Steven Spiegel, Professor of Political Science and Director of the UCLA Center for Middle East Development. He has also written for The Middle Easterner, the center's premier blog providing commentary, insight and analysis on events in the MENA region. Jacob's other political experience includes his work at the Los Angeles County Office of the District Attorney, the Office of Congressman Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (CA-25), Jeff Gorell for U.S. House of Representatives (CA-26), and as the UCLA Liaison to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). In May of 2014, Jacob Finn was elected to serve a two-year term on the Westwood Neighborhood Council, 5th District of Los Angeles, representing nearly 56,000 constituents to LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilmember Paul Koretz, and other local leaders and groups. Outside his time at the Burkle Center, Jacob enjoys international travel, snow sports, and his fraternity AEPi at UCLA.
