The second Fowler in Focus installation features more than twenty masks gifted to the Fowler in 2002. 

Manuel A. Jordan, curator of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas at Stanford's Cantor Center for the Visual Arts, explores the forms and functions of the masks, and presents new research about the mask characters of the Chokwe, Lunda, Luvale/Lwena, Luchazi, and Mbunda peoples.

The majority of the masks featured in this exhibition were purchased with funds generously provided by Jay and Deborah Last.  The exhibition and its accompanying publication were made possible in part by funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and Manus, the support group of the Fowler Museum.  Media sponsor K-JAZZ.

Cost: Free and open to the public; parking is available in lot 4.
