About Ufahamu (Swahili for understanding):
Ufahamu, UCLA's multidisciplinary Africanist Graduate journal, has maintained its original vision of creating a forum for protest within the academic sphere. Since 1970, the journal has continuously published the work of a wide variety of scholars-- with a particular emphasis on voices from Africa -- and others marginalized by the mainstream academic presses. In our 30 plus years we have featured original works by a wide variety of seminal intellectuals including Walter Rodney, Sondra Hale, Mahmood Mamdani, Richard Sklar, Ali Mazrui, and many, many others.
Please join us in our efforts to keep this space open through creating linkages with progressive Africanist minds and featuring current critical views within our pages.
For more information about the journal, submitting materials for publication (poems, prose, film reviews/critiques, book/article reviews, short stories, academic papers, etc.), visit http://www.international.ucla.edu/africa/ufahamu/
Cost: Free; light refreshments will be served.
