Film Screening of 'Black Gold'

As part of Earth Day 2007, the Social Justice Alliance and E3 will be hosting a screening of the documentary that will make people think twice about the coffee they drink.

This film reveals the hidden aspects of the coffee industry and discusses the impact of the Fair Trade movement on coffee farmers in Africa.

Tadesse Meskela is one man on a mission to save his 74,000 struggling coffee farmers from bankruptcy. As his farmers strive to harvest some of the highest quality coffee beans on the international market, Tadesse travels the world in an attempt to find buyers willing to pay a fair price. Against the backdrop of Tadesse's journey to London and Seattle, the enormous power of the multinational players that dominate the world's coffee trade becomes apparent.

See "Black Gold" -- As the movie trailer suggests, "Your coffee will never taste the same again."

The screening will be followed by a discussion and Fair Trade snacks will be served.

Cost: Free and open to the public; parking is available for $8.
