Prof. Julia Tuñón holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Mexico (UNAM). She has written extensively on women's history in Mexico and on the representation of women and children in Mexican cinema. Prof. Tuñón is the author of several books, among them,Las mujeres en México. Una historia olvidada (1988),Mujeres de luz y sombra en el cine mexicano. La construcción de una imagen, 1939-1952 (1998), andCuerpo y espíritu. Médicos en celuloide (2005), She has been a member of Mexico's prestigious National System of Researchers since 1989. Her talk will focus on the image of women in Mexico's classic cinema.
