Kaichiro Morikawa taught at Waseda University's Advanced Research Institute for Science and Engineering before taking a position as visiting professor at Kuwasawa Design School. A critical theorist, he is the author of "Learning from Akihabara: The Birth of a Personapolis" (2003) and author and co-editor of "OTAKU: persona = space = city" (2004). Morikawa also served as commissioner of the Japanese pavilion at the Venice Biennale 9th International Architecture Exhibition in 2004.
