Kantathi Suphamongkhon, Ph.D.

39th Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand

UC Regents' Professor, Burkle Center Senior Fellow

UCLA Department of Political Science

Professor Suphamongkhon will discuss current topics such as international trade, international terrorism, Iraq, North Korea, and Myanmar. He will also respond to the following two questions:

What is it like to be a diplomat in the age of globalization?

How does a country, such as Thailand, position itself to be competitive under globalization?

Professor Suphamongkhon received a BA in Political Science from UCLA, master's from American University and Ph.D. from USC.  He has been interviewed and cited on such programs and periodicals as CNN, BCC News, and ABC, as well as the Washington Post, Financial Times and Time Magazine.  He has been a diplomat at the United Nations and has also contributed to the Six Party Talks regarding the Korean Peninsule, among other things.

Light refreshments will be served.
