West Africa Meets Westwood -- Nigerian Musicians performing with UCLA Musicians & Dancers

The Cultural Affairs Commission at UCLA is holding a free concert showcasing the collaboration of visiting master Nigerian musicians with UCLA musicians and dancers, featuring Baba Ken Okulolo, Soji Odukogbe, and Will Magid, et. al.

The Cultural Affairs Commission at UCLA, the organization that hosts the annual JazzReggae Festival, will host an event that will highlight West African and American musical traditions, including Afrobeat, Highlife, Jazz, and Fusion. 

The show will feature:

Master Nigerian bandleader Baba Ken Okulolo

• Leader of the Afro-Beat ensemble Kotoja and the West African Highlife Band
• Known for his work with King Sunny Ade and other legendary Nigerian bands

Soji Odukogbe

• Long-time lead guitarist for the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti

Will Magid

• Trumpeter, event organizer, and UCLA senior
