
A lecture focusing on affirmative action in Brazil by Fernando Conceição, Professor of Journalism and Communication Studies at Universidade Federal da Bahia, Brazil
Fernando Conceição is a professor at the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil. He is a journalist and researcher specialized in media and race relations.
Fernando is also an activist in the Brazilian Black Movement as part of the struggle for the implementation of policies of affirmative action in Brazil. He earned his Bachelor’s from the Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA), and a Master’s and PhD from Universidade de São Paulo. He has held a post-doctorate at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany (2009), was a visiting scholar at the University of New York (1999) and at the University of California (1998), and was a Fulbright fellow (1994).
