About the Presentation
Jennifer Cockrall-King, author of Food and the City: Urban Agriculture and the New Food Revolution (Prometheus Books, 2012) will narrate slides of case studies from cities around the world putting food production back at the center of urban landscapes. Examples will be of ultra-productive home growers in London, England, to sub-arctic gardens in Yellowknife, North West Territories (Canada), commercial urban farmers in Vancouver, Canada, urban farms in Havana, Cuba, and the world first vertical farm in Chicago. She will give context of why there is a sudden push for food production in urban landscapes as she discusses these interesting examples from Canada, the UK, France, the United States and Cuba.
