Associate Professor of Chinese Literature, Department of East Asian Languages and Literature, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Among her publications are Women, War, Domesticity: Shanghai Literature and Popular Culture of the 1940s (Brill, 2005, co-editor, with an introduction), Written on Water: A Collection of Essays by Eileen Chang (Columbia, 2005), "Fashioning Public Intellectuals: Women's Print Culture in Occupied Shanghai 1941-1945," in Shadow of the Rising Sun: Shanghai under Japanese Occupation (Christian Henriot and Wen-hsin Yeh, eds.; Cambridge, 2004); guest co-editor, special issue on Taiwan Cinema, Modern Chinese Literature and Culture 15 (2003); "Sun-facing Courtyards: Urban Communal Culture in Mid-1970s Shanghai," East Asian History 25/26 (2003). Professor Huang won the Andrew W. Mellon New Directions Fellowship 2004-06, Graduate School Research Committee award, UW Madison, 2004-05, 2002-03, 1999-2000, and 1998-99, Faculty Research Grant for Taiwan studies, UW Madison, 2002-03, Wisconsin/Hilldale Undergraduate/Faculty Research Award, UW Madison, 2001-02, and the Lilly Teaching Fellows Award, College of Letters and Science, UW Madison, 2000-01.
