IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) is now mandated for use by more than 100 countries to provide investors with the ability to compare the financial performance of publicly listed companies on globally consistent basis. Most countries other than U.S.A. have adopted IFRS and the convergence between US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and IFRS is in progress. In this presentation, Professor Hyewon Paik will review the difference between IFRS and GAAP and consider the pro and con about IFRS.
