Dear Friends,
Happy New Year from everyone at the Center for Near Eastern Studies. We are excited to announce the launch of "Listen to Learn," a CNES-produced multimedia language resource for Arabic, Turkish, and Persian, and would like to extend a special thanks to all of the students, staff, and language specialists who helped bring this ambitious and innovative project to life. We would also like to highlight our updated "Resources" page on the Center website, specifically the research guides on "Ancient Near East and Egypt" and "Middle Eastern Studies," maintained by David Hirsch, UCLA Library's Middle East Bibliographer. Finally, the applications for the 2013-2014 Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS) are available on our Center website.
We are looking forward to an exciting quarter of events and Center happenings, and we wish you all the best in 2013.
Sincerely,
Sondra Hale and Gabriel Piterberg
Interim Co-Directors, Center for Near Eastern Studies
