K-12 Outreach - Asian Families: a seminar for educators

Intensive two-week seminar for educators explores the past, present, and future of families in Asia, including their vital role in social organization, economic production, and the transmission of values and norms.

Dates: Saturday, July 31 - Thursday, August 12, 2004
No sessions August 1, 8, or 9

Fee: The fee for the program is $125.00 and covers materials, parking, field trips, and refreshments.

Credit: Participants who complete all seminar requirements (attendance and participation in all sessions of the seminar and completion of a curriculum development project) are eligible to receive credit which can be used toward a degree or advancement on a salary ladder. Los Angeles Unified School District teachers may choose salary advancement credit (4 points) or UCLA Extension credit (4 quarter units). Non-LAUSD teachers can receive UCLA Extension credit (4 quarter units).

This summer seminar is made possible by Title VI National Resource Center grants made by the U.S. Department of Education to the UCLA Asia Institute (East Asia) and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies. The summer seminar is an integral part of our Asia outreach program, which also includes school/district site seminars, weekend workshops, and summer study tours of Asia.
