Since its establishment in 1999, the CSEAS has worked closely with the university to build an outstanding group of faculty. Four new full-time faculty members have been hired, and at least two more are due to be recruited in the near future. There are currently more than twenty faculty in over a dozen different disciplines and professional schools affiliated with the CSEAS, making UCLA one of the leading centers for research and teaching on Southeast Asia in the country. To provide students and faculty with the most stimulating possible intellectual environment, the CSEAS regularly invites outstanding scholars of Southeast Asia to UCLA as visitors.
