Information:
The Berkeley Graduate Working Group for Korean Studies announces its second annual graduate symposium sponsored by the Center for Korean Studies, U. C., Berkeley. Recognizing the increasing academic needs for interdisciplinary dialogue among graduate students in Korean studies areas, this forum will provide young scholars on the U.C. campuses with an opportunity for sharing ideas, experiences, and issues in Korean studies.

The symposium will be composed of four panels with panelists and a discussant covering topics related to: 1) Politics and Economy; 2) Society and Culture; 3) History; and 4) Literature. Select conference papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

Submission Guidelines / Information:
The symposium is open to all graduate students specializing in any subfields of Korean studies on the University of California campuses. Two U.C. faculty members will also be invited.

An abstract of 400 words (double spaced, times new roman, 12pt., MSWORD attachments) — including participant’s name, school, major field, department affiliation, years of graduate studies, e-mail, phone number, and address—is to be sent electronically to Jonathan Petty Program Assistant, Center for Korean Studies) at cks@socrates.berkeley.edu.

Registration / Information:
Participants’ airfares and local transportation costs will be reimbursed upon submission of receipts. Room and meals for the conference day will be provided. A reception dinner will be hosted at 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2003 by the co-chair of the Center for Korean Studies.
