Rethinking Southeast

Call for Book Proposals

Southeast Asia is a dynamic and rapidly changing region which continues to defy predictions and challenge formulaic understandings. This new book series publishes cutting edge work on the region, providing a venue for books that are readable, topical, interdisciplinary and critical of conventional views. It aims to communicate the energy, contestations and ambiguities that make Southeast Asia both consistently fascinating and sometimes potentially disturbing.
The series comprises two strands:
Rethinking Southeast Asia aims to address the needs of students and teachers; these titles will be published in both hardback and paperback.
We are particularly seeking proposals for short and accessible, single-authored or edited books that will provide a critical introduction to the following Southeast Asian countries:
* Malaysia
* Indonesia
* Cambodia
* Burma
* ThailandRoutledge Research on Southeast Asia is a forum for innovative new research monographs aimed at a more specialist readership.
The series is peer reviewed, and we commission manuscripts up to a maximum of 100,000 words. In the first instance, any interested authors should email a short paragraph with a proposal to the series editor:
