1910
Japan established its government-general to administer recently
annexed Korea. On August 22, 1910, Japanese and Korean officials
signed the treaty
of annexation. In 1995, then Japanese Prime Minister Murayama
argued that the treaty had been "legal." Yukata
Kawasaki has analyzed this claim in the Murdoch University
Electronic Journal of Law.
1972 Japan
formally recognized the People's Republic of China.
