A.  Read the excerpt from the song on page 124.  What is Fukuji trying to say to Muna by singing, "The day has ended and the visitors have left--In the mountain village all that remains is the howl of the storm winds from the peak?"

B.  There are many blocks and stories that deal with the theme of finding one's true identity.  How would this theme apply to the novel?  What character(s) do you think that this might apply to?

C.  How did the author use historical events to weave her story?  What new facts did you learn about ancient Japan?  Did you like  this  piece of historical fiction?  Why or why not?

D.  Would you recommend this novel to another seventh grade student?  Why or why not?
