The Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia cordially invites you and a guest to attend Croatian Film Today, to be held May 16-18 at the Aero Theatre, 1328 Montana Ave, Santa Monica CA 90403. The program includes five of the best films produced in Croatia the last two years. Croatian Film Today is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian Audiovisual Center and is being organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Los Angeles and American Cinematheque.

Croatian Film Today opens Friday, May 16^th 7:30pm, with the US Premiere of IVI I MRTVI (The Living and the Dead) directed by Kristijan Mili, based on the novel by Josip Mlaki. The screening will be attended by Kristijan Mili and lead actor Filip Šovagovi. In addition, there will be a Q&A session with the filmmakers after the screening followed by a cocktail reception and presentation of Croatian wines by the Blue Danube Wine Company in the theatre lobby.

 

The film program continues on Saturday, May 17 at 7:30pm, with a double feature presentation of TREŠETA (Tressette: The story of an Island) directed by Draen arkovi followed by ŠTO JE MUŠKARAC BEZ BRKOVA (What is a Man without a Moustache) directed by Hrvoje Hribar who will also be available for Q&A after the film.

 

On Sunday, May 18 also at 7:30pm, the program concludes with another double feature starting with ARMIN directed by Ognjen Svilii and PUT LUBENICA (The Melon Route) directed by Branko Schmidt.
