Outreach
Since 1993, The Center for European and Eurasian Studies has devoted its resources to the development of innovative research and teaching on Europe and Eurasia and supporting teachers through our various outreach activities.
CEES' primary goal is the internationalization of education, training a new generation of highly proficient specialists in an expanding Europe. CEES programs place particular emphasis on curriculum development, and ongoing training of teachers at the K-12 and post-secondary level.

CEES fulfills its commitment to K-12 teacher development with year round workshops and seminars, and new curriculum resources that are made available both on campus and in local classrooms.
Summer Workshop for Educators
For the past twenty summers, The UCLA International Institute has offered academic enrichment and professional development opportunities to hundreds of local K-12 educators. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and the International Institute, the Summer Workshop incorporates a multidisciplinary area studies approach and offers analyses of major themes related to each global region, comparative and cross-regional perspectives, sessions dedicated to curriculum and resources, the Internet and New Media, as well as field trips, film presentations, and cultural activities.

The UCLA International Institute hosted a 3-day professional development workshop August 16-18, 2011 for teachers of South Gate ISLC, ISSN network schools, and UCLA partner schools on the International Studies Advisory curriculum framework, developed and piloted by UCLA and ISLC staff during the 2010-11 school year. The curriculum consists of an overview of world geography, resource guides to the world regions covered in each grade-level Advisory, and model lessons and pedagogical strategies. - ISLC Summer 2010 K-12 Workshop
Partnering with several centers in the International Institute, this summer's K-12 workshop focuses on Internationalism. - It's A Matter Of Taste: Food In World History and Cultures
A 10-day summer program for teachers at the UCLA International Institute traces the evolution of regional and cross-regional food cultures from antiquity to the present, underscoring how food preferences reflect the interplay of local cultures, geographies, and socio-political configurations, in the context of broader realities such as transnational economic networks and environmental change. - 2008 Summer Institute for World History Teachers - Monks, Merchants and Millworkers: Connecting Europe and Asia
July 28th - August 8th. This two-week institute for 6th, 7th, and 10th grade World History teachers will explore the connections between Europe and Asia and look at economic issues in the World History curriculum.
