CCK Junior Scholar Grants

The Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation provides postdoctoral scholars and assistant professors without tenure who have taught for no more than 6 years since receiving their Ph.D. degree with grants for time off for research and writing.

Applications should be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the chairman of their department. These grants will be for one year. The maximum amount of each award is $30,000.

Application Procedure

All applicants are requested to use the forms available online here. Applicants in the American region should submit their applications to the foundation’s regional office in McLean:

All applications must include the following items, in the order listed below:

  1. A one-page summary of the proposed project;
  2. A detailed itemized budget (If this sum is to be supplemented by  matching funds, please include this information in the budget);
  3. A description of the proposed project of no more than 7 pages in  length.

All applications should also include curriculum vitae of the project director and any co-directors, as well as lists of publications over the last five years related to the proposed project, and any relevant supporting materials.

Twelve copies of each application are required.

Do not send applications by fax or e-mail.

The foundation will initially direct all messages and correspondence about the applications to respective project directors. If a grant is approved, the CCK Foundation, in most cases, will then correspond with the university's grant administrator to arrange payments over the period of the grant.

The foundation does not provide a written critique for unsuccessful  applications.

The foundation's application form requests all applicants to indicate the field of specialization for their projects. If the project is multidisciplinary, please specify.

Deadline: The deadline for CCK grants for Scholars is October 15. Results are announced May.
